⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Overall Rating: 4.7/5)
In this SodaStream Terra review, we test the starter kit to see how quick and simple it is to make sparkling water at home. The Terra uses the Quick Connect (pink) CO₂ cylinder and a 1 L BPA-free bottle, so you click in the gas, fill with cold water and press to choose your fizz. There is no power cord or batteries, just fresh bubbles in seconds. Below we cover setup, bottle compatibility, real CO₂ costs and when the Terra is a better buy than the E-Terra or Duo.
Ease of Use ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5
Setup is straightforward: snap in the CO₂ cylinder, fill the bottle with cold water, and press the button to carbonate to your preferred level. The quick-connect cylinder system makes swapping gas bottles fast and mess-free.
Performance ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ 4.5/5
It delivers consistent carbonation and lets you control fizz intensity with short or long presses. The included Bubly drops add a light, refreshing flavor, though you can use any compatible flavoring or fruit infusions.
Design & Build Quality ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5
The Terra has a modern, slim design that fits easily on most countertops. It’s made from sturdy, BPA-free plastic and feels solid during use. No batteries or power cord means you can store it anywhere.
Value for Money ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ 4.5/5
While the upfront cost is higher than buying bottled sparkling water, the savings on refills add up quickly — especially for daily sparkling water drinkers. Plus, you cut down on single-use plastic waste.

Quick buying notes
- Cylinder compatibility matters most.
Newer machines (Terra, Art, E-Terra, Duo) use Quick Connect pink cylinders. Older models (Fizzi/Spirit, One Touch, Aqua Fizz) use screw-in blue cylinders. Stick with one system. - Want glass?
Choose Duo if you want glass and Quick Connect. Choose Aqua Fizz if you are fine with the older screw-in system. - Hands-off convenience?
Go E-Terra or One Touch for one-button carbonation with three preset levels. - Best value for most homes:
Terra for simple manual use and easy cylinder swaps. Duo if you want glass at the table and plastic to go.
Pros ✅
- Eco-friendly and reusable
- Quick-connect CO₂ system for easy refills
- Adjustable carbonation levels
- No batteries or electricity required
- Sleek, space-saving design
Cons ❌
- CO₂ cylinders need replacing periodically
- Bubly drops are lightly flavored — not as strong as store-bought sodas
1) Is the SodaStream Terra compatible with my old cylinders and bottles?
The Terra uses SodaStream’s Quick Connect (pink) CO₂ cylinders. It is not compatible with the older screw-in (blue) cylinders. It works with standard 1 L and 0.5 L SodaStream plastic bottles that are rated for the Terra. It doesn’t take the glass carafes (those are for Crystal/Aqua Fizz models).
2) Does the Terra need electricity?
No. The Terra is fully manual. Just press the carbonation button to inject CO₂. That makes it countertop-friendly and portable.
3) How much sparkling water do you get per cylinder?
A 60 L Quick Connect cylinder yields up to ~60 liters at light fizz. Real-world use is usually 30–50 liters depending on how many bursts you use and how cold the water is. Think roughly 120–160 glasses at 330 ml each.
4) Can I carbonate juice or other drinks?
SodaStream recommends carbonating water only. Add flavors after carbonation to avoid foam-overs and potential damage. The Terra works well with SodaStream syrups and bubly drops.
5) Are the bottles dishwasher-safe and how do I care for the machine?
Many Terra bundles include a dishwasher-safe 1 L plastic bottle (check the label). Bottles have an expiry date—replace them when expired or if damaged. Wipe the machine with a damp cloth, keep cylinders upright, and swap them through SodaStream’s exchange program when empty.
Final Thoughts
The SodaStream Terra Starter Kit is ideal for sparkling water fans who want a greener, more convenient way to enjoy fizz at home. It’s quick to set up, easy to use, and stylish enough to keep on display — all while helping you reduce waste and save money over time.
